A ‘river city’ Parkroyal

The Parkroyal in Christchurch follows many traditions within the Parkroyal “collection” of fine hotels. One tradition for Christchurch is that the hotel is the latest of the “river city” Parkroyals. Other “river city” hotels include the Perth Parkroyal, Parramatta Parkroyal, Adelaide

Parkroyal and the Brisbane Parkroyal. In Christchurch, many of the hotel’s rooms, suites, restaurants and bars look out on the treelined Avon. The meandering tranquillity of the Avon creates a pleasing atmosphere in keeping with the Parkroyal’s own quiet elegance. For hotel guests, the Avon is just a minute’s

walk past landscaped gardens, the Victoria Square amphitheatre and floral clock. Riverbank walks through the city provide quiet relaxation and leisurely exercise. Those wanting a closer encounter with the river can try punting on the Avon. In recent months the punting boat has al-most-become a symbol of Christchurch.
