Moveable carpark
PA Auckland A new five-storey carpark building in Auckland has a modular structure which enables it to be relocated.
The building has been designed so it can be dismantled and moved to another site if required. Three quarters of the building’s pre-cast floor units could be re-used, along with all the beams, columns and wall panels. The building was built
for City Realties and the managing executive, Mr John Hamilton, said it would remain on the Anzac Avenue site, where there was a heavy demand for parking, for at least five years. “Building a moveable carpark required more imaginative engineering than usual, but we believe it’s a worthwhile investment,” Mr Hamilton said. It would take about six months to reassemble the building.
