Race start confirmed

Te Awamutu trainers Robert and Bruce Priscott have decided to go ahead with the plans to start their talented two-year-old Cordero in Saturday’s $160,000 Swettenham Stud Sires’ Produce Stakes at Awapuni. Cordero, one of the leading contenders for the Group One event, suffered some heat in a for'eleg

and wasn’t worked on Tuesday morning. But he was put to the test yesterday morning and sealed his Central Districts trip. “It was just some slight filling in the leg,” said Robert Priscott. “We gave him a bit of time to get over it and he seems alright now. He went well enough in his work, but obviously we can’t be too

sure if it has affected him until race-day.” Cordero has had four starts for two wins, a second and a fourth, with the latter placing being in the Radio Pacific Sires Produce Stakes at Ellerslie.

“He’ll go straight out for a spell after Saturday,” said Priscott.
