Brash statement
Brash Holdings’ recent acquisitions should sustain profit growth unless consumer demand falls significantly, Brash directors said. Brash, a consumer electronics group, earned a sAust4.o3 million net profit for the six months ended January 31, up 61 per cent. An Aust7.sc interim dividend was declared on share capital increased by 28 per cent because of a share placement, a one-for-10 bonus issue in December, and staff issues, and an Austl2.sc special dividend, paid out of surplus franking credits was also declared. The previous dividend was 7.5 c.
OECD inflation
Inflation in Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries, driven by rising costs of oil and commodity
prices, is expected to peak at 4.9 per cent in the second half of 1989 before declining, the privately run Oxford Economic Forecasting said. In 1988 inflation was 3.2 per cent. Tighter monetary policies, slower investment, and falling real incomes would cause economic growth to decline further to 3 per cent from 4.1 per cent in 1988.
Sagasco result Sagasco Holdings, oil and
gas group, nas reported a maiden net profit of sAustll.OB million (SNZI4.7M) for the year ended December 31. Turnover was 5217.8 M. A final unfranked dividend of 4c a share has been declared, making an annual rate of 8c a share. Last June the South Australian Gas Company merged with South Australian Oil and Gas Corporation, an exploration and production company formed by the South Australian Government, to take over the Cooper Basin oil and gas interests sold by the Federal Government.
FAR talks Smith Resource Holdings
said discussions were taking place to allow Finance and Resources to continue as a listed vehicle with the involvement of other major shareholders. Smith said talks were taking longer to end and felt that the matter would be resolved by March 15. CRA power plant CRA and Denis Horgan's Barrack House Group Pty, Ltd, are examining the feasibility of building a SAust billion (SNZI.3 billion) power plant generating 1000 megawatts a year to utilise CRA’s Hill River coal deposits, about 180 km north of Perth.
