AUSTRALIA Bargain hunters move in
NZPA-AAP sycnej The Australian sharemarket continued its recovery from earlier lows yesterday afternoon as investors sought bargain issues. By the close of floor trading, the all-ordinaries index was down 8.4 points to 1425.0, after touching 1419.4 just before the end of the morning session.
Brokers said the market seemed to find support at about 1420.0 and aggressive selling, which had dominated trading in the past two days, slowed dramatically.
One broker voiced suspicion that futures related trading had been used to manipulate the market.
