Victim of plane crash named
The police have released the name of the woman killed in the fatal light aeroplane crash at Culverden on Thursday.
She was KAY FRANCES JARVIS, aged 3D, of Christchurch.
The pilot, Mr Walter Rusbridge, aged 47, an insurance assessor of Christchurch, was also killed instantly when the home-built Zenith 200 plummeted to the ground soon after take-off.
Mrs Jarvis, who was divorced, was a friend of Mr Rusbridge. It was her first flight in the aircraft, friends said yesterday. The engine from the plane has been brought back to Christ-
church for tests. An air accident inspector attending the investigation, Mr David Graham, said yesterday the engine would be tested at Christchurch Airport for the next two weeks.
A report on the accident would not be completed until at least July, he said. Inspectors completed their on-site investigations yesterday.
Mr Graham said the investigation would also focus on the history of the aircraft, built by Mr Rusbridge 10 years ago, the pilot’s qualifications, and further engineering tests, as well as the weather at the time of the crash.
