Board to run NZ exchange
Wellington reporter
The Wellington sharebroker, Mr David Wale, has been appointed as the first chairman of the new New Zealand Stock Exchange board of directors, the retiring president of the exchange, Mr Robert Wilson, announced last evening. Having control vested in a board rather than the traditional council and executive structure, is a consequence of far-reaching organisational changes at the exchange. Other members of the exchange on the board are Messrs Warne Rowlings, Jon Cimino, Malcolm Brown, and Eion Edgar. Three independent directors have also been appointed, one more than the number of independent representatives under the old structure. They are the Dunedin chartered accountant and company director, Mr Jim Valentine, the Auckland commercial lawyer, Mr Geoff Ricketts, and the professor of accountancy at Victoria University, Mr Don Trow.
The appointment of Mr Bill Foster as managing director of the exchange was also announced. Both Mr Foster and the existing executive director of the exchange, Mr Roger Gill, will sit on the board.
