Bus depot to be moved to Chch Railway Station
By
PAM MORTON
The Railways Corporation bus passenger service in Christchurch will be transferred from its Victoria Street depot to the railway station in Moorhouse Avenue on April 10. The Railways’ area passenger manager, Mr Alan Coombs, said the move would provide passengers with better waiting room facilities and access to the rail cafe. The booking office hours at the railway station would be extended at weekends for coach and train reservations. “With all passenger operations at Moorhouse Avenue, the co-ordination of both mojdes of travel will become easier,
as will passenger interchange between them,” he said. Bus stops and further short-term customer car parking would be provided, Mr Coombs said. The Speedlink parcel service would also be run from the station. Existing suburban coach stops would remain unchanged, as would the Cityline bus services to and from Burnham and Dunsandel. The garage repair service will remain at the depot until it can be moved to the Addington railways workshops about August. Mr Coombs said that once the depot was vacated it would be put bn the market. .
