Savana City pleases in trial
Special correspondent Auckland The top-class mare, Savana City, furthered her preparation for Saturday's Television N.Z. Stakes at Ellerslie with a run at the Te Awamutu trials last week. Trainer Ray Johnson lined her up in a 1600metre open heat and with Bruce Compton riding she cruised home eight lengths clear of the runner-up, Waikeeper. “That’s just what she needed,” said Johnson, who is pleased with her progress since then.
