‘No agent" The missing former head of the National Safety Council Victorian Division, John Friedrich, was not a C.I.A. agent and had no links to intelligence agencies, the Prime Minister, Bob Hawke, said yesterday. He told journalists he had checked out allegations made about Mr Friedrich, and had been advised they were groundless.—Canberra. Bordes in Bali? British newspapers said today they had tracked down a former Indian beauty queen at the centre of a sex-and-poli-tics scandal, discovering her at a hideaway on the Indonesian island of Bali. The Parliamentary aide, Pamella Bordes, aged 27, has been in hiding since tabloid newspapers made a series of allegations two weeks ago about her private life, including links to an unnamed Cabinet Minister, two British national newspaper editors and a Libyan security official.— London. Sylvester Stallone was named worst actor and “Cocktail” was selected
worst picture for 1988 top honours in the Golden Raspberry Awards. Other big Razzie winners included Liza Minnelli for worst actress (“Arthur 2: On The Rocks” and “Rent-A-Cop,”) Dan Aykroyd for worst supporting actor (“Caddyshack II”) and Kristy McNichol for worst supporting actress (“Two-Moon Junction”). The Razzie statuettes are scheduled to be presented today by the Golden Raspberry Awards foundation at a nightclub during commercial breaks of the Academy Awards telecast. At least 61 people were killed across the Philippines in the last five days, as the country voted in nationwide polls and communist rebels opened the 21st year of their insurgency. The outlawed Philippine Communist Party, in a statement commemorating the founding of its guerrilla New People’s Army 20 years ago, said yesterday that it aimed for total victory within 10 years, but was ready to join a coalition Government before then.—Manila.
