Church unity talks a distraction —preacher
By ANABRIGHT HAY All the energy that is spent discussing church unity would be better employed preaching the gospel, according to a visiting English preacher, Mr Charles Price. Mr Price is in Christchurch for five days of a three-week New Zealand visit and he hopes his talks here will help Christians who may have become side-tracked to return to the roots of their faith.
Mr Price, a former farmer, is based at the Capernwray Missionary Fellowship in Lancashire, England, although he
spends much of his time travelling the world and preaching the gospel.
Mr Price is not in the business of winning converts to any particular faith. Religious denominations are not as important as a person’s relationship with Christ, he said. Last evening, Mr Price met Christchurch Christian leaders and spoke at a reception on board the M.V. Doulos in Lyttelton. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, he will preach on the principles of spiritual reality at 7.30 p.m. at the New Life Centre in Manchester Street.
