Chatfield in N.Z. team for Perth
Ewen Chatfield returns to the New Zealand cricket team for the limited-over match against Western Australia at Perth on April 4.
The veteran of 115 oneday internationals replaces Gary Robertson, who was not available. Otherwise the side to travel to Perth is the same as that which beat Pakistan, 3-1, in the recent Rothmans Cup series.
The Western Australians have had some morale-boosting moments recently, top. They were top qualifiers for the Sheffield Shield final and have home ground advantage over South Australia next week-end, and yesterday five of their representatives were named in the Australian team to tour England.
New Zealand’s match at Perth will mark the inaugural Air New Zealand non-stop flight from Christchurch to Perth. The players, accompanied by Leif Dearsley (manager), Bob Cunis (coach) and Mark Plummer (physiotherapist), will travel on the inaugural flight on April 2. The team is.— John Wright (captain), Robert Vance, Andrew Jones, Martin Crowe, Mark Greatbatch, Jeff Crowe, lan Smith, Chris Kuggeleijn, Martin Snedden, Willie Watson, Dann* Morrison, Ewen Chatfield.
