Education Vacancies TEMPORARY LECTURER IN FILM (SCHOOL QF FINE ARTS) UNIVERSITY OF CANNTERBURY APPLICATIONS are Invited from suitably qualified persons for the above temporary position In the School of Fine Arts. The appointment will be for the period. May 15 to November 30, 1989. The appointee will be responsible to the Head of Fine Arts, Professor H. J. Simpson, for teaching, supervising, examining and assessing all students enrolled In film courses. The person appointed must be capable of supervising all aspects of prescribed courses of study but emphasis must be given In FILM 201 and FILM 301 to developing in all students a sound and secure command of the “craft aspects” necessary to achieve professional standards in picture and sound quality and in editing. In FILM 301 and FILM 401 increasing importance Is attached to the abilities of students to deal with scripting, the coaching of actors and narrators. The pictorial qualities of films and videos are considered to have special Importance In the context of other specialisations taught at the School (e.g. Graphic Design, Painting, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture). The appointee will be required to carry out all these professional duties by being In attendance from 9.00 a.m. until 12.30 p.m. and 1.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Monday to Friday during term. The time between terms and the mid-term break is to be spent In preparation for teaching, for assessing and to assist generally In the work of the School at the direction of the Head of the School. The appointment will be made on the Lecturers’ salary scale, from $35,000 to $42,500 per annum. Applications close on April 14, 1989.
