Nicholson rides fast time
Chris Nicholson finished inside Brian Fowler’s record ride again, in spite of strong northerly winds during the Canterbury Recreational Cycling Club's 16km time trial on Tuesday evening. Nicholson finished with a time of 21.56. 1 Dave Powell was the next fastest time with 23.29. John Visser, the fastest veteran, had 16s to spare ahead of Les Jones, and Alan Bower filed in at No. 3. Nicholson will be attempting to slice more time off the 16.2 km route from Sumner to to Sugarloaf transmitter
station carpark above the city today. Results:— Senior: Chris Nicholson, 21.56, 1; Dave Powell, 23.29, 2; Mike Reynolds, 26.03, 3; Andrew Nye, 26.39, 4; Philip Chester, 29.02, 5. Juniors: Jo Anderson, 25.03.
