Pay equity

Sir,—Pay equity (comparable worth), apart from being fatal for the job market, is not necessary when there is already equal pay for equal work. This issue is another stab in the back for the family, which is not surprising since the feminists are out to destroy men and families. “The home is considered to be women’s oppression” (feminist strategies are documented) and the Labour Government has accepted the feminists’ policies. I’m sure a lot of married women would choose to stay home if their husbands were better paid, which would release quite a few jobs. My thanks to Mr Tapsell: “There is a yearning to return to the virtues of the family unit, and I think fewer of us are in any doubt what we mean by the family unit.” —Yours, etc.,

(Mrs) WENDY ANDERSON. February 28, 1989.
