The position which is in the Electrical Section of the workshops, entails the overhaul and test of AC and DC motors and generators, electro mechanical actuators and wiring harnesses, and the test and repair of electronic indication and control devices. However, aircraft radio and instrument overhaul is also carried out at Christchurch, so suitably qualified, successful applicants should be prepared to transfer within the greater Avionics Workshops as required. Ideally, applicants should have completed an Aviation Avionics apprenticeship, but the completion of an allied apprenticeship or recognised allied formal training programme is acceptable. Persons holding an N.Z.C.E. or other tertiary qualifications, who fill the apprenticeship requirements are encouraged to apply. Additionally, experience of instrument repair work, radio repair work, and digital and multiplexing techniques would be advantageous.
