Ashburton has big adult ewe yarding

The Ashburton County adult ewe fair yesterday drew a large yarding, but top prices were about $2 to $4 down on those of last year. The best price of $23.50 was received for 199 twoshear Border Romney ewes offered by Mr C. B. Kirke, of Mt Somers. Last year, 91 Border Romney annual-draft ewes fetched $26.50. Ewes at yesterday’s sale were said to be in as good condition as in any previous year. The sale was satisfactory considering the economic climate. Some farmers are still going out of sheep or dropping back their stock numbers. This may have accounted for the big yarding of about 22,000. Wrightson Dalgety, Ltd, sold on account of: B. J. and J.
