New clue to inquiry
PA Palmerston North A homicide inquiry into the death of Derek Maxwell Lee at New Plymouth on Thursday was moved to Palmerston North yesterday after new information. Detective Senior-Sergeant Ross Pinkham, of New Plymouth, and three of his detectives went to Palmerston North yesterday to boost: local officers investigating the death.
Mr Lee, aged 42, was found dead at the base of Paritutu Rock at 5 p.m. on Thursday. Detective Senior-Sergeant Pinkham said inquiries now centred on the dead man’s 1962 Humber Hawk. The car was found burning near the Palmerston North Fire Station on Main Street at 11 p.m. on Wednesday.
