Swedish royals visit memorial
PA Wellington The visiting Swedish royal couple, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, visited the National War Memorial in Wellington yesterday, where the King laid a wreath.
The couple spent several minutes chatting with the Returned Services
Association’s president, Mr Alan Johnston, and the Minister of Defence, Mr Tizard, at the wreath-lay-ing service before leaving for a mayoral reception at the Wellington Town Hall. The royal couple had already sampled New Zaland cuisine at a Beehive State luncheon.
