Neither of Canterbury’s two New Zealand cricket representatives, Richard Hadlee and John Wright, are available for the Shell Trophy match against Northern Districts beginning at Lancaster Park tomorrow. Also out of the squad, because of shin soreness, is the High School Old Boys all-rounder, Chris Flanagan. The new man in the squad, which will train at the ground this evening, is the top-order batsman, Jon Preston, who made a lot of runs for Canterbury B in the national second XI championship. The Canterbury squad for the Northern Districts match is: Ben Harris, Blair Hartland, Peter Kennedy, Paul McEwan, Rod Latham, Mark Priest, Lee Germon, Roger Ford, Stu Roberts, Richard Petrie, Andrew Nuttall, Jon Preston.
