Cot death fund lift

A cheque for $30,000 will be presented to the Cot Death Fellowship Appeal this morning by the member of Parliament for Yaldhurst, Mrs Margaret Austin. The money is the first of three possible grants from the Lotteries Board towards the appeal to appoint a full-time researcher into cot death in Canterbury. The appeal’s publicity officer, Mr Lawson Little, said the board would re-

view the project eight months after it started and could give another $30,000. A further review eight months after that could net the appeal another $30,000, he said. The Canterbury Hospital Board agreed on Wednesday to support the Cot Death Fellowship Appeal by granting honor-ary-staff status to the researcher to allow the person to use hospital board facilities for clinical duties.
