Police brutality claimed

PA Auckland Two families, one of which is related to the Minister of Police, Mr Tapsell, intend laying complaints of police brutality after they were allegedly hit with batons at an Auckland concert.

The Wiringi family, of Whangarei, and the Clayton family, of Mangere, were horrified by what they claim was unnecessary violence by police trying to control hundreds of would-be gatecrashers outside the ÜB4O concert in the Mt Smart Supertop on Saturday. Mr Matt Wiringi’s wife, Colleen Porter, aged 52, was hit on the head and needed three stitches.

Dwayne Clayton, aged 17, said he was hit by a police officer while picking up a packet of cigarettes off the road. His cheekbone was broken in four places and his jaw needs to be wired.
