Young woman raped A Pukekohe woman was raped while her two children slept in a nearby bedroom early yesterday, the police said. The woman, aged in her late 20s, said she woke to find a man standing in her bedroom. She was sexually violated over several hours. Her attacker, who is believed to have been unarmed, left after ordering her not to call the police. — PA. Crash victim still ill Floyd Raymond Rudolf, who was injured in a car accident in the Lyttelton Road Tunnel on Boxing Day, remained seriously ill in the Christchurch Hospital intensive-care unit yesterday. Incorrectly named The Quality Inn, at the corner of Durham Street and Kilmore Street, was incorrectly named in a report in yesterday’s edition of “The Press” as being among five motels and hotels burgled in Christchurch on Christmas Eve. Hastings dog toilet French poodles and German Shepherds might have difficulty reading a sign outside a veterinary clinic in Hastings, but most English-speaking dogs will get the message. A post outside the building in Hastings’ Queen St carries the sign “dog toilet.” It is set in a small landscaped area, and a veterinarian, Roger McKinlay, says it is a first for New Zealand. Similar dog toilets have proved popular overseas, he said. —PA.
