Father followed to grave by son
A Wanganui farmer, Barry Plimmer, aged 52, has died less than two weeks after his father, the leading businessman, Sir Clifford Plimmer.
Mr Barry Plimmer was involved with farming and forestry all his adult life. He began with a farm in Waikanae on the Kapiti coast, and later bought the historic Otamoa station along the Wanganui River.
He was involved with the Anglican Social Services, and recently helped set up the Arbor Trust, an association involved with buying forestry. Mr Plimmer, who died on Boxing Day, is survived by his wife and five children. His funeral will be held today in Wanganui. Sir Clifford Plimmer died in mid-Decem-ber.aged 83. On his retirement he was chairman of Wright Stephenson, which became Fletcher Challenge. He was also chairman of New Zealand Breweries.
