Householders warned
Householders are warned by the Insurance Council to secure their property as best they can before going on holiday this Christmas. People should cancel mail and milk deliveries, and ask neighbours to clear their mailbox of any pamphlets or circulars that build up, signalling to burglars that a house is unoccupied. Lowered blinds and closed curtains were a sure giveaway that a house is unoccupied, the council said. Neighbourhood support groups members should inform each other of holiday durations and dates. — PA.
