Anxious news wait
PA Nelson A Richmond woman was yesterday anxiously seeking news of her mother and sister, residents of the small Scottish town where a Pan American jumbo jet has crashed.
Mrs June Morrish said her mother, Mrs Betty Shaw, aged 68, and sister, Mrs Maureen Bury, aged 46, lived on a Lockerbie housing estate. Earlv reports of the crash
mentioned a service station, and Mrs Morrish said the two women shared a house “between a hill and a petrol station.” They do not have a telephone. When Mrs Morrish tried to telephone one of their neighbours, she got an engaged signal and then a number-not-available signal. Mrs Morrish came to New Zealand 25 years ago and visited the family in Lockerbie last year.
