The Big Game Hunters are back in Christchurch for shows at The Playroom, MacKenzie’s Hotel, this evening and tomorrow evening. The group, formerly resident band at the Palladium nightclub, have been based in Auckland.
The Prodigies will get into the Christmas spirit with shows at The Subway, New Zealander Tavern, this evening and tomorrow evening. ♦ ♦ ♦ Those looking for a Christmas present might consider “Stranded In Paradise,” a history of New Zealand rock ‘n’ roll from 1955 to 1988.
The book, by John Dix, is available in either limited edition hardcover at $BB, from P.O. Box 20720, Wellington, or in soft cover from bookshops at $39.50. John Dix reports that the book has been so popular that he is already publishing a second edition in softcover.
Summertime festivals are on the go, including the Second Taranaki Music Festival in New Plymouth on December 30, and the Mainstage festival for Christians at Otaki on February 3 to February 6. Bands to be featured at the Taranaki festival in-
elude Herbs, Ardijah, The Warratahs, Holidaymakers, The Fan Club, and Red Adair.
Manulito’s Dream State, which includes former members of Beat
Rhythm Fashion and Mea
Culpa will play at The Subway, New Zealander Tavern, next Thursday. Meanwhile, Andrew Penman, a member of Manulito’s Dream State, and an organiser of the Curious George Club, is at present scouting for a new venue for the club in Christchurch.
