Air N.Z. strike off

By

LES BLOXHAM

An eleventh-hour settlement in

the engineers’ award talks with Air New Zealand has averted industrial action which threatened to ground flights for 24 hours from 4 p.m. today. The settlement was reached yesterday after days of tough bargaining.

Details of the agreement will not be publicly disclosed until after union officials have reported back to their members at a stop-work meeting to be held this afternoon. An Air New Zealand spokesman said last evening that flights would not be disrupted while the meeting was taking place.
