Shops open Sunday
About 40,000 shoppers yesterday packed an Auckland shopping centre which had been granted special dispensation to open on a Sunday. Some shoppers had come from as far south as Tokoroa. Almost all the 95 shops in the Manukau City Centre mall accepted customers from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.' It was the centre’s busiest shopping day of the year. The Shop Trading Hours Commission had approved the application by the centre’s owners, Challenge Properties.—PA.
