Pilgrim to visit

A man who has carried a four-metre cross 40,000 km on foot through 101 countries will bring it to Christchurch next month. Mr Arthur Blessitt began his round-the-world pilgrimage from California in 1969. He will speak at a lunchtime rally in Cathedral Square on Monday, January 16.

Mr Blessitt was invited to New Zealand to take part in a series of conferences titled, “Armed and Dangerous,” being run in Christchurch, Dunedin, Napier, Hamilton and Auckland next month. The cross, which has a small wheel at the base, weighs 36kg on a dry day and Mr Blessitt takes its burden on his shoulder.
