NZ CLERICAL WORKERS’ ASSOCIATION AN OPEN LETTER TO CLERICAL WORKERS’ EMPLOYERS Dear Clerical Workers’ Employers I am taking the unusual step of writing this open letter to you hoping that a sensible solution can be found to the impasse that has developed in the negotiations for the renewal of the New Zealand Clerical Workers’ Award. As you will be aware, other major awards have been settled recently. It is possible for the same settlement to be reached for your clerical workers. The union has taken a major initiative to settle the award and has detailed this to the Employers’ Association advocate. The position your representatives are currently adopting in the negotiations will prevent a settlement of the award. Such uncertainty is not in the best interests of your business or of your staff. Don’t leave this decision only in the hands of the eight employer representatives at the negotiating table. I urge you to advise the Employers’ Association or your representative to support a fair deal for clerical workers in line with other award settlements. Yours faithfully, John Slater, National Secretary, N.Z. Clerical Association
