Dumping disappoints

PA Wellington The Sports Foundation head, Keith Hancox, has described the sacking of the national boxing coach, Alan Scaife, as “disappointing” saying that the sport “has to get its house in order quickly.” Mr Hancox was commenting on Thursday’s surprise dumping of Scaife following a postal ballot of association members. After the vote, Mr Scaife and several inside personalities accused the Matamata Council member, Keith Walker, of orchestrating his downfall Mr Walker — the referee who fled Seoul after his controversial handling of a bout during the Olympic Games — has denied the allegations. “It is very disappointing when sports administrators spend more time politicising and scrapping with one another rather than working together to run their sport for the athlete who looks to them to do that job,” he said. “It certainly doesn’t do the sport any good. This sort of thing wouldn’t do any sport any good and its a pity people indulge in it.”
