Balmain gains
NZPA Sydney Balmain has recruited the young Canterbury forward, Esene Faimalo, to play in Sydney rugby league next season. The Balmain secretary, Keith Barnes, said yesterday that Faimalo would join the club in January under the New Zealand Rugby League’s one-year scholarship scheme. Mr Barnes said Faimalo was “coming to us with very good reports from Gary Freeman,” Balmain’s Kiwi halfback. Faimalo, went on as a replacement for New Zealand in this year’s test against Papua New Guinea in Auckland.
