The successful applicant will be responsible for the efficient management of the Reference Department and will have a support staff of an Assistant Librarian and a Senior Library Assistant. User education is a prominent feature of the position, along with the promotion of information services to all Library users. As a Head of Department, the Reference Librarian is expected to contribute to overall library management. The College Library has a stock of over 80,000 volumes and a permanent staff of 14. It serves a student population of approximately 1700 (including 250 post graduates) and an academic staff of 150 persons. The Library moved into an exciting new building in September 1988. A suitably qualified person would be appointed on the University scale for Senior Librarians, $32,243-535,139.
