Stylish juvenile sold

Dunno, a stylish winner of the first South Island juvenile pacing race of the season at the New Zealand Cup meeting last month, has been sold to South Australian interests for a substantial fivefigure sum. The precocious Jamie Hanover colt was trialed late last week by the visiting Adelaide horseman, Lance Justice, with the sale, negotiated by the Christchurch agent, Chris Ryder, being finalised yesterday.
Dunno, the first starter and winner by his sire, was developed by the Lyttelton amateur trainer, Andy Sparks, who raced the colt with his daughter, Nicki.
“We hope to win the South Australian Sires’ Stakes with him,” said Justice earlier this week. Dunno was eased in training by Sparks after his impressive debut last month, in which he overcame an early check to race in the open over the last 1000 m and win by a short head in 2:39.7 for
the 2000 m. Ryder, who earlier sent Justice two fine current winners in Andy Bush and Our Captain Jolly, the latter rating 2:00.6 for 1800 m at Glober Derby Park,
also finalised the sale of the C2 trotter, Rolleston Lad, to the same stable this week. Rolleston Lad, a four-year-old Alias Armbro gelding, is a brother to Lord Alias, a big Melbourne winner after also doing his early New Zealand racing from Les Jones’s stable.
