Dunedin band promoting album

The Straitjacket Fits have hit the road to promote their debut album, “Hail.” The group’s tour will include shows at Christchurch’s Subway (New Zealander Tavern) this evening and

tomorrow evening. Besides the album, a 12-inch single, featuring the title track, “Hail,” plus a cover of the Leonard Cohen song, “So Long, Marianne,” has

been released. The Straitjacket Fits have already been busy recording and touring. Their debut EP, “Life In One Cord,” stayed in the top 40 charts for 10 weeks.

The group, originally from Dunedin, also supported The Pogues after the Neon Picnic festival fell through in January, and in September they were billed with Jesus and the Mary Chain.
