AUSTRALIA Shares up for 3rd day

NZPA-AAP Sydney Australian shares closed firm in quiet trade yesterday as the market consolidated its gains of recent days. At the close of floor trading, the all ordinaries index had risen 4.8 points to 1476.1. The all industrials gained 6.9 points to 2462.6, the all resources 3.1 to 738.6 while the gold marker fell 2.1 to 1520.4. National turnover was 82.94 million shares worth sAustl2l.6BM, as rises led falls by about 10 to nine.
