Technology Park

Sir, —Criticism on December 6 of an item in my electorate newsletter (No. 14) must not go unchallenged. The National Party is deliberately misinterpreting a non-political statement. Mr Rogers implies that I claimed Government credit for the establishment of the/Technology Park. The truth was that I applauded the initiative and drew attention to the enterprises located at the park. Can we assume that Mr Rogers is saying that the National Party is opposed to developments of this type and

size? This development is the result of concerted effort by local government, business interests, the Canterbury Development Corporation, Regional Development Council and myself as a local M.P. I see it as a forerunner of new developments with significant benefits for the Christchurch community. It is, indeed, good news.—Yours, etc., MARGARET AUSTIN, M.P. for Yaldhurst. December 6, 1988.
