N.Z. aid

Sir,—New Zealanders are being constantly bombarded with problems that afflict our country and we also find time to complain about things we do not have; we seem to forget what we do have and ignore what others suffer from in lands not far from us. Occasionally we are alerted to the nightmare of war, poverty, hunger, etc., that these people have to live through. Why do we not lay aside our own concerns and help these people? Westerners' problems, like nuclear war, are all too real, but those of disease and death which can be prevented should be at the fore of people’s minds. These cruel war games should be put aside to make way for real problems and the ready solutions that could be enforced.—Yours, etc., A. C. RUSSELL. December 1, 1988.
