Americans ambivalent
NZPA-Reuter Washington Americans are fairly evenly divided on the question of whether the President-elect, George Bush, should try to help revive the Soviet economy, a poll released yesterday showed. Forty-seven per cent of Americans polled favoured United States help while 45 per cent did not. The poll by the Gallup Organisation, also found that most Americans — 65 per cent — believed the Kremlin leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, had initiated major changes in the Soviet Union.
