Woodchip ban proposed

Conservation organisations will go to the Government to ask for a ban on the exporting of woodchips from native forests. The Maruia Society’s director, Guy Salmon, said the ban would close down New Zealand’s two native woodchip-export operations at Nelson and Invercargill, and would also stop new woodchip mills from starting up. —PA.
