Rural Bank drops rate

A further one per cent reduction in Rural Bank interest rates for both existing and new loans was announced yesterday by the bank’s managing director, Mr Murray Bolton. ‘‘The reductions mean that the Rural Bank’s best rate will drop from 17.5 per cent to 16.5 per cent. The latest interest rate reductions are now effective and reflect the bank’s determination to support good customers with competitive rates. The changes are in addition to the recently announced special interest rate of 16 per cent for loans to the dairy industry for settlement from April 1, 1989.
