Men’s pair

By

Tim Donoghue

NZPA Hong Kong The New Zealand bowlers, Rowan Brassey and Terry Scott, compounded their Hong Kong international bowls classic pairs woes by drawing a third round match 19-19 with the Police Officers Club yesterday. Brassey and Scott, having real difficulties adapting to the slow 12s Kowloon Bowling Club greens, have yet to record a win after three matches in section A of the preliminary competition. Unbeaten teams are Hong Kong’s Noel Kennedy and Mark McMahon in section B, and Englishmen, Brett Morley and John Bell, in section A. New Zealand, which

has lost matches to Indian Recreation Club and Ireland, are scheduled to meet England in a section A match on Friday afternoon. Ireland and Wales suffered defeat for the first time in round three. Results of round three were: Section A: Craigengower Cricket Club 23, Ireland 11; England 26, Club de Recreio 6; Indian Recreation Club 20, Papua New Guinea 15; Newcastle District 19, Kowloon Bowling Green Club 18; New Zealand 19, Police Officers Club 19.

Section B: Hong Kong 21, Australia 14; Canada 23, Filipino Club 13; United Services Recreation Club 32, Fiji 15; Scotland 28, Hong Kong Football Club 18; Kowloon Cricket Club 24, Wales 16.
