Woodville Special correspondent Woodville Kikkoman turned in a bold gallop at Woodville yesterday morning in preparation for the Wanganui meeting on Saturday, while Immunize and Star Pride are two other Wanganui acceptors which showed up. Most fast work took place on the plough, which was in good order. Kikkoman and Maple Row ran 800 m in 49, and were travelling well over the last ' 600 m in 35. Kikkoman will race in the Waitaki Imlay Handicap on Saturday, and although he is a versatile type he might find the 1360 m ' a little short. . He is preparing for the Avondale Guineas in which his trainer, Bruce Marsh, has . another entry, Sir Nova. Galaxy Star, from Murray Baker’s stable, is another entered for the Guineas. Immunize went 1200 m in 1:15, the last 1000 m in 1:2 and final 600 m with Penny Hill m 37.4. Immunize should go boldly in the Birch 10,000 on Saturday. A Counties Cup runner, Go Bush, ran 600 m in 37.5 and looks to have made satisfactory progress since his Riccarton trip. Star Pride stopped the clock at 1:1.5 for 1000 m, the final 600 m .in 37. The centre of a dispute between two trainers, Dave Wolland and Morrie Murphy, Star Pride is in the $15,000 Breeders’ 1600 at Wanganui. Whether she will start is uncertain. Royal Version and Ngawi Bay ran 1000 m in 1:6.6, the last 600 m in 39.8. Ngawi Bay is a Levin candidate, while Royal Version races in the Chronicle Handicap at Wanganui. . Festal galloped 600 m in 36. He is being set for the Concorde at Avondale, and may not race in the interim. The brilliant Woodville winner, Our High Noon, and Drip Dry ran 800 m in 50.8, the last 600 m in 37.3. Amarnath, a Levin candi- . date, looked well when runfcning 800 m in 50.5, _E|ie final 1600 m in 37.8. ‘ r

Awapuni Special correspondent Palmerston North Charvet will be trying for her fifth win on end when she runs in the TaranakiWanganui Breeders’ 1600 at Wanganui on Saturday and it will be her toughest test to date with the likes of Lady Aloof, Star Pride, Margarella and Dee Opal in the field.

But the vastly-improved Charvet galloped brilliantly in training at Awapuni yesterday morning, suggesting that she will acquit herself well in her last race before taking a break until the autumn.

Charvet galloped on a fast course proper. She ran 1000 m in 1:3, coming home impressively over the last 600 m in 36.4. She will be ridden on Saturday by Brian Hibberd. Vickers and Hot Cross, from the Campbell stable, also used the course, running home from the 600 m in 37. Pierre Marcel and Tamworth covered 1200 m in 1.18, the last 600 m in 38. Pierre Marcel is close to good form. On the plough, Cotton Club, a last-start winner at Woodville, showed to advantage, running 800 m in 48, the last 600 m in 35. Cotton Club galToped with zest and could go a big race in the Jardine at Wanganui. Mr Milson, which looks sure to go well at Levin today, ran home 600 m in 42 and he did well for his third at Awapuni last Saturday. Fiddlers Three, which could show up in the highweight at Wanganui, ran 1200 m in 1:21, the last 600 m in 40. Amorous, which looks in great order, reeled off 800 m in 49.4, the final 600 m in 35.4. She had no luck in the big sprint at Riccarton and she might go to Ellerslie on Saturday. Zelazny, in the Cup at Wanganui, partnered Hisrelm over 1000 m in 1:5.6, the last 600 m in 38.6 and Pavlovich ran 600 in 40. Laurent and Tap took 1.6 for 1000 m, the last 600 m in 40. Laurent has thrived well since winning at Hastings and is a likely contender for the Birch 10,000 at WangSnui.
