Newspaper for N.Z. doctors

A newspaper for doctors will be launched in February. Four Auckland people have set up a company to produce the paper, “New Zealand Doctor,” fortnightly from February 21.

One of the shareholders, Ms Carmel Williams, said that the tabloid paper would be an independent publication paid for by drug company advertising.

Editorial content would cover national and international news with emphasis on local issues, she said.

Several clinical journals for doctors were published in New Zealand, but these tended to have a long lead-in period, said Ms Williams. “New Zealand Doctor” will be news-oriented.

The paper will be printed in Auckland and distributed free to doctors throughout New Zealand. The publisher, Mr Chris Mules, also published “Australian Doctor,” a weekly newspaper which was the most widely read publication for doctors in Australia, said .Ms Williams.
