Acceptance time unchanged

A deputation from the Trainers’ Association failed to persuade the Greymouth Jockey Club to alter acceptance time for the first day of its summer meeting on Saturday when it met club officials at Hokitika yesterday.

Greymouth had advertised an acceptance time for midday today. A meeting of trainers before the first race yesterday sought a variation of that until tomorrow to enable maiden winners from the second day at Hokitika to gain a start at Omoto on Saturday.

Trainers’ Association officials met the Greymouth president, Jack O’Donnell, and other club officials, but after consultations with the secretary and the committee of the club the decision was made to retain today’s acceptance time.
