Bartlett China hit

NZPA Hong Kong The guitarist, Gray Bartlett, has been awarded a certificate for being the Canton Video and Audio Publishing House’s top-selling foreign artist in the last year. Bartlett recently ended a two-week concert season at the Canton Folk Festival - in conjunction with the Hamilton Maori cultural group, Te Maori. Te Maori’s group leader, Ben Hippolite, said the Canton promotions organisation presented Bartlett with his certificate at a farewell banquet. Bartlett said the group gave 13 concerts to about 250,000 people. The New Zealanders were the one overseas group — among numerous Chinese acts — at the festival. The Chinese are marketing a tape of Bartlett’s New Zealand country music called “Modern Guitar.”
