Girl Guide camp opening
The Canterbury Girl Guide provincial campsite, Kimihia, will be formally opened on November 20. The chairman of the Waimairi District Council, Mrs Margaret Murray, will officiate. The campsite, in the guides’ north-west division, has been made available for lease from the council. Mrs Edna Hanafin, the provincial commissioner,
said that although the camp had been in use for some time, a shelter shed had only recently been built. “It will be used for adverse weather conditions.” Guests at the opening will include Sir Hamish and Lady Hay, Waimairi councillors, members of the New Zealand Guide Association and members of the Associated Youth Groups of Canterbury.
