Water cuts likely all summer

By

GLEN PERKINSON

As hot, dry weather continues Christchurch, water restrictions apply still over most of the metropolitan area. In Lyttelton Borough the extreme weather resulted in the council putting garden watering restrictions on all properties. Even-numbered properties are allowed to use handheld hoses only on even-numbered days of the month. Sprinklers are banned. The same applies to odd-numbered properties on odd-numbered calendar days. The restriction is expected to remain in force in Lyttelton until the end of February. Similar restrictions apply in the Christchurch City. In Paparua County and Waimairi District no watering restrictions have been imposed on residents yet.
