Willems honoured
A Christchurch amateur photographer, Ron Willems, has just been awarded the distinction of Artiste de la Federation Internationale de L’Art Photographique. He is the first person to be nominated by the Photographic Society of New Zealand and awarded this distinction.
The Federation Internationale de L’Art Photographique is the European-based international photographic organisation which acts as a central body for national photographic organisations throughout the world. The distinction of artist is awarded to individual photographers with an international
record of exhibition success and who have generally contributed to the photographic art.
Ron Willems has been a keen photographer for the last 18 years. He has been an active member of the Photographic Society of New Zealand and the Christchurch Photographic Society during this time.
Earlier this year he became the first person to win the New Zealand National Salon of Photography five times.
His work has been shown, and won awards, in numerous other photographic salons in Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Australia.
